Bet365 has grown to become one of the biggest gambling companies on the planet since its establishment in a Stoke-on-Trent portakabin in 2000. Today, the Bet365 site showcases opportunities to not only bet on sport, but also try one’s hand at casino games and – the subject of this review – poker.
Such is the company’s commitment to poker, in fact, that it even gives users the option of a dedicated mobile app for its poker offerings. But how good is the site as an all-round poker portal?
Most of the top poker sites present their members, new and old, with an assortment of promos and bonuses, and Bet365 is little different. Whether your own taste is for redeemable cash promotions, prize wheel spins, tournament tickets, cash game tickets, free-roll opportunities or other perks from time to time, there’s a good chance that you’ll find it at Bet365 when you first sign up.
The choice of games available is, of course, what any poker site is really all about, and Bet365 serves up a lot of enticing options for poker fans.
Prominently presented are the ‘Twister’ games – these being three-handed Turbo Sit & Go games that offer random big jackpots, sometimes running into the thousands. At the time of our visit to the site, there were standard €1, €2, €5 and €10 Twister games available, as well as Wild Twister and Age of the Gods Twister.
Six Plus Hold’em was another key offering on the site at the time we visited. This game is played like Texas Hold’em, except that all cards from deuce to five are missing from the deck, leaving six as the lowest card.
Add speed games, cash games, tournaments and sit & go titles, and it’s clear that Bet365 is committed to bringing poker aficionados a comprehensive online gambling experience.
As stated above, tournaments are a key aspect of Bet365’s attractiveness as a poker site. When we visited for this review, we discovered Twister sit & go tournaments, as well as a super-fast sit & go called Premium Steps, offering an €800 top prize for a buy-in of just €0.50.
Tournaments are available on the site that cater to most types of poker, and with buy-ins to suit every kind of player – from €500 Guaranteed and €1000 Breakfast to €1000 Brunch and €400 Deepstack Turbo.
The range of accepted payment methods at Bet365 is pretty impressive, encompassing the most ubiquitous options on sites like this – such as Visa, MasterCard and PayPal – but also the likes of Apple Pay, Google Pay, Paysafecard, Skrill and Neteller.
Debit cards, credit cards, e-wallets, bank transfers and even cheques are represented but are naturally subject to varying conditions. All of the payment methods are free to use, and some of them allow you to deposit as little as £5 at a time. For the majority of them, the processing is instant, although you’ll be left waiting for between five and 28 banking days if you opt for a cheque.
Bet365 gives you a number of options for taking your money out of your account, including Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller and Paysafecard. However, where possible, all withdrawals are processed to the same payment account that was used to deposit.
You will, therefore, need to have an active payment method on the site before you will be permitted to withdraw. There’s no specific maximum daily withdrawal amount, but requesting more than £20,000 may necessitate – in the words of the site’s terms and conditions – “additional arrangements”.
It’s evident by one look at the Bet365 site that the aim isn’t to absolutely bamboozle you with graphical flair, and that’s a good thing – with its black, grey and green colour scheme, the site design projects a certain sense of prestige, professionalism and calm.
‘Workmanlike’ could be another adjective to describe much of how the site looks and functions, from the main menu and lobby screens, right through to the poker action itself. Regardless, it probably represents the perfect balance for most avid poker players.
The main Bet365 site provides in-depth information on such matters as how to play the poker games here, the deposit and withdrawal options available, and the process of verifying your account.
You’ll find many of your questions answered by the terms and conditions and the ‘Help’ section, which you can access by clicking on the avatar next to your username in the top right-hand corner of the page and selecting the ‘Help’ option that pops up. There’s a dedicated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section for the poker side of the site, too.
What if you wish to get in touch with the site team directly? Well, you can do this using ‘live chat’, email, web message, phone or even good old-fashioned ‘snail mail’.
You can enjoy poker at Bet365 in a number of ways, including through your desktop or mobile browser, the downloadable desktop program that the site also provides, or the dedicated mobile app. Whichever pathway you take, the appearance and functionality of it all is pretty consistent.
Finally, as a Bet365 member, you will also automatically be a member of the site’s Loyalty Club, which enables you to accumulate Status Points in order to climb Loyalty Steps. In the process, you will be rewarded with Bet365 Coins to spend on such perks as tournament tickets, cash game tickets and bonus money.
While Bet365 doesn’t do a huge amount that other poker sites don’t, it does give you a lot of ways to enjoy poker online, including via multiple devices, and the various promos are certainly interesting. The site is also understated and functional, but still houses a good range of eye-catching poker tournaments. What’s more, the poker side of things here is just one part of a much grander online gambling portal that could well keep you stimulated for months and years to come.
